Port Moody is a place in British Columbia where my daughter lived for a period in 2007 with her mother, and this song was written before I went to visit her there in this new city.
This song is kind of a counterpoint to The Flight Deck, in that the same kind of emotions are at play with this. I wanted something that sounded beautiful to me, but also with a hint of disillusion just beneath the surface.
I wanted more piano on this, but sessions with Archie proved to be somewhat different than what I was looking for, so I simply kept the original piano parts I programmed in for the final mix.
There were meant to be remixes and a single for this (the withdrawn WOOF05P, cover shown above) but the project never materialized. The only remix completed was the hard trance $100 Version, which was later withdrawn and replaced with the $150 Version, a more acoustically pleasing master of the $100 arrangement. Both versions were an homage to Plastikman, aka Richie Hawtin.
Daniel B and PEM remixes were planned, but not done.
